Partnerships and Subscriptions

The WSRN is a cooperative of reference station hosts. Individual private or public sector entities build, operate, maintian, fund, or otherwise collaborate on the develoipment of Continuously Operating Reference stations. The raw data from these stations comes to the Central Processing Center (hosted by Seattle Public Utilities). In exchange for raw data from CORS the CORS hosts recieve monitoring for thier CORS, and real-time network corrections from thiers and all other CORS in the network.

Under the above described model, the infrastructure of the network is the responsibility of the Members (Partners). each CORS that provides a viable raw data stream is elegible for 6 full access accounts. There may be more than one partner for each station. How the respective partners divide the 6 accounts elegible for thier CORS is up to those partners. Station components include: a receiver, antenna, mount, site, power, communications, and network software increment "node". One partner may cover all of these, or there may be other partners covering some of the components

The operations of the Central Processing Center is funded mainly by Seattle Public Utilities, with part being offset by non-partner contributions (subscriptions). These subscriptions go toward the direct operations and support of the Central Processing Center as well as direct user support, outreach, education, and incidental software/hardware

Development and expansion of the network towards full statewide coverage has taken a high priority in recent years and this has caused higher than expected expenses. These will level-off as network expansion near completion

The subscriptions only offset part of the expenses, but if the subscriptions increase above expenses, the yearly fees will be adjusted lower to keep the balance at "zero-sum". The WSRN cannot take a profit (nor take a substantial loss).

Current Annual Subscription Rates:

Single Accounts: $1,900 total (includes taxes). Examples: 1 account = $1,900, 2 accounts = $3,800.

Five Accounts: $5,700 total (includes taxes) Examples: 5 accounts = $5,700, 6 accounts = $7,600 ($5,700 + $1,900)

Ten Accounts: $10,000 total (includes taxes) Any number over 10 = $1,000 each.

Other Eligible Accounts:

Test Accounts: 90 days free

Dealer and Manufacturer Accounts: All dealers and manufacturers are eleigible for test and demonstration accounts under the strict proviso that they are not used for commercial for-fee service, transfer, sale, or lease, and only to demonstrate RTN capable equipment, training, or application development (on a case by case basis).

Academic and Scientific Accounts. While all academic and scientific research are eligible for single accounts, with the proviso that these may not be used for for-fee services, sale, transfer, or lease, and only for such research needs. Multiple accounts or other direct data streaming will be handled on a case by case basis.

Stream sharing with other networks is handled on a case by case basis. If a partner establishes a CORS with the pre-stated intention of providing streams to multiple networks, this is certianly fine. The WSRN will not otherwise share data from a CORS without express permission from the respective CORS partners. There are now shared streams betwenn the WSRN and the Pierce County CORS, the oregon network, Canadian CORS hosts, the Kuhker-Rankin network,and individual CORS in Idaho.

Application Process. Call 206-684-5630 or email gavin.schrock@seattle.gov for a 90-day test account. If you do not need a test period (or have used it in the past) download the following two files, print, fill-out, sign and return via U.S. mail to the address listed on the form. Accounts will be created immediately and you will be invoiced directly. Accounts will be up for renewal on the anniversary date of the previous invoice.
